2014 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid

What is anyone's experience towing one of these 4 down? Owners manual says it is OK and instructions look really simple...put in neutral and key to accessory.
  • I towed my 2011 fusion and I had a charge line put in no worries of a dead battery, had the tail lite wired too used a 7 to 5 pin cable. It is very easy to tow get a dummy key made and put in and turn to assy. put in neutral and you are done.
  • The car tail lights are wired to operate from the motorhome via umbilical cord. I did not run a charge wire as I don't think it's needed. I did manage to run down my battery while towing the car for 3 days without running the engine. Not a smart idea! If the engine had been run on a daily basis, the battery would never have run down as I know it only became a problem on the 3rd day of travel. (I could have gone 2 days and it still would not have been a problem.)
  • I'll repeat, I powered my Brake buddy with a small jumper/starter battery that I wanted to have along anyhow. no worry of the BB not getting power or running down toad battery.

Did you also put in a charge line to keep the MKZ battery charged while it is operating your Brake Buddy. Also did you wire into the lighting harness to operate the tail lights and directional signals of the MKZ via an umbilical cord to the RV?
  • Just purchased a 2014 Lincoln MKZ hybrid thus past August. Love the car - - have towed it about 1,300 miles so far. Tows fine! Had to wire in a separate 12V accessory outlet to power my Brake Buddy since none of the other 12V outlets are "live" when the ignition is off while towing.
