2015 KZ Spree Escape

Just bought this great little travel trailer. Had a few questions for the dealer, specifically the roof load limit. Dealer said "oh ya you can walk on the roof.
This Spree Escape comes with an aluminium sheet roof.
Wasn't too comfortable getting up on it to install vent covers so I sent an email to KZ Customer Service and asked about the roof.
They called me almost immediately after they received the email and the nice lady proceeded to tell me that the Spree Escape has a NO WALK ROOF.
She said that meant whenever I or service staff need to get up on the roof, wood boards spanning the width of the trailer must be placed on top with sheets of plywood over.
Okay, no I am concerned. I live in the snow belt of Canada. How is my roof going to hold out with the weight of winter snow?????
Oh, and the owners manual has nothing regarding the roof in it.

Take care and happy camping!!
  • Forgot to mention, I live in Colorado, or you noticed. Plenty of snow has been sitting on this roof. Very wet and heavy I might add, no problems after three winters. Hope this helps.
  • Ah found the thread. We have a Spree Escape 16BH, just a little one. The roof is not one to be walked on, and I got the same advice from KZ. I have installed the vent covers etc.. just put some boards down you should be fine. We are on our fourth summer with ours, no issues at all. We feel it is well built. The roof is kinda of funky, that is the only thing about it. Just wished it drained better. I eternbond parts of the roof and will do more of that soon.
