KZ Spree Escape

Looking at a KZ Spree Escape ES1705. I know it is a lightweight trailer, so the construction won't be as robust as a Northwoods RV or Outdoors RV trailer (also sold at the same dealership). Any experience (good or bad) with KZ Spree quality and the warranty offered by the KZ corporation? Thanks!
  • The owner of KZ sold out to Thor Industries earlier this year due to his age and health. No outward signs of any changes that I know of. I have my suspicions but will have to wait and see. We have one of the last non-Thor units. Our dealer expects to see a move towards more bling and little features, sorta like on Keystone units. We love our 2014 Spree.

KZ has been pretty good to us. Our dealer has been outstanding, the opposite of a previous dealer (Coachmen). Zero issues on getting any warranty problems fixed. Just a few minor warranty issues so far to deal with our 2014 except for the bathroom wall which is out of plumb.
  • KZ has always been a solid family owned company that stood behind their products. Earlier this spring Thor bought KZ. Time will tell if that changes anything.
  • Our last TT was a 2006 KZ 24' Jag, which was essentially the lower level model of the Spree. We never had any major quality issues. I only traded it in last year because I wanted a larger TT with a slide and more options.
  • 2010 KZ Spree BHS bought used but "like new" 3 years ago. Rewired entire brake wiring system due to shorts in the wires running inside axle. No other issues to date.
  • I don't have the Escape , but our KZ Spree Connect has been rock solid. I think you'll like it.
  • Generally mine was ok, but the roof started to leak at 3.5 years of age. Regular inspections and caulking will be crucial. I don't regret buying it, and sold it only because I wanted to move to a hardside popup.
  • While I do not have first hand experience with the KZ Spree Escape, I did buy a new KZ Sportsman two months ago. Our local dealer sells all of the KZ lines and I looked through all of them and felt that the quality was in line with other similar brands in our area. I had a two year old Jayco and felt that the quality of KZ was just as good if not better then what I experienced with Jayco. I have not had any warranty issues with ours yet and I have taken it out on 4 trips so far and put about 500 miles on it. Everything works like it should, but, I did have to switch the cold and hot water line around in the kitchen sink as they had them on wrong, but, that took me less than 5 minutes as all I had to do was loosen them by hand and switch them around.
