KZ Spree

We have a 2011 KZ Spree 265KS and really like it. We use it about 8-10 times a year and have had no issues so far.After 4 years you would expect things to start showing up but so far so good. Would recommend. Good choice.

I previously owned a 2006 KZ Jag, which is the next lower model level from the Spree. I owned if for 8 camping seasons and had very few issues. The Jag and Spree were very similar except for trim appearances.

We bought that exact model last June. We had the dealer special order one with the options we wanted. We ordered the second AC and all the insulation we could get. We are in SC, and like you in Louisiana, know a little about heat and humidity. A camper that big needs alot to keep it cool at 98 degrees and ours could be an ice box if we wanted.
Quality wise, we have had no issues with anything that KZ actually built. Our only issues have been with the furnace, which has been a real pain. Though KZ has taken care of the problem to our satisfaction, thus far. For us the two year warranty was a key selling point, I can only hope Thor doesn't screw things up too much. Our unit was one of the last ones built before the change of ownership.
I tow mine with a new 2500 Ram 6.4L. Traded up from a very tired 2500 Chevy. I also have a Propride 3p, but it really tows quite nice. With your experience it should not be an issue.
Downsides that i see with the unit. The biggest one is lack of payload. A camper this big really should have at least a 10500 GVW. Mine is only 9500. We don't typically tow very much water, but if all the tanks were full, it leaves precious little carrying capacity. It seems such a shame with all those big ole cabinets to fill up. The other thing I don't like is the two grey water dumps and the location of the fresh water inlet on the rear of the unit. It's more of an annoyance than anything, but you have to carry a "Y" and additional sewer hose to accommodate the two outlets, and an additional water hose to reach the inlet. I also don't like that you can't access the restroom or fridge with the slides in. May not be an issue for you but we like to stop at a rest area and have lunch and hate to have to fold everything out in a parking lot.
All in all, we are very happy with the unit, and would buy it again if given the opportunity. Good luck.

Thanks for the comments and keep em coming! I used to tow a 33' offshore catamaran hull, with a T-top at 13' 7" of height, which felt like pulling a sail. I towed that thing all over the Gulf Coast for years. It was a pain to pull on a windy day no doubt.

The Spree line is KZ's highest level of equipment. There has not been many issues with them and I would not have a problem looking at them. Personally I think the fresh tank size is kind of small, but we camp at a lot of electric only parks.

As far as towing goes, a 8x10x32' box tows differently than the other types you listed. It has more frontal area which takes a lot more power to pull through the air at 65mph and the 10x32' side profile is more susceptible to any wind that is not directly in front of or behind you. Your towing experience will help you but very few people tow a high walled RV like there is nothing back there. You always know it. I'll assume you have a 3/4+ ton vehicle. Get a good WDH with integrated sway control.

We bought the KZ noted in my signature line last July. We had a new Jayco for 3 years before that. We have used the KZ on about 6 trips and I would say the quality is as good or better than the Jayco and everything seems to work as designed. Our KZ seems to be good value for the money spent.

A couple of things about that large trailer that you might want to think about. I would want 16" wheels, a larger water tank and more carrying capacity. After you fill the water tank, propane tanks, water heater, install a battery and add some water to the black tank, you will not have much capacity left for all the other items you would bring.

Not new to towing for sure, I have a 36' offshore fishing boat, and a 30' trailer for my 80hp tractor with all my implements I tow all the time. So i am very comfortable towing heavy loads and things with a high wind load. I have just had a Hard time finding any recent reviews on The KZ spree line. I am 6'4" 250 and my wife is 5'11" so in looking at ALL the models and Manufactures in our area which i feel is ALOT. this layout and bathroom fit our needs or should I say a bathroom that "I" fit in best. We looked at Higher end trailers and lower end trailers. Again I have no Idea what I should be looking out for or focusing on. we wont be moving it Alot. it will stay parked at a couple spots for a few months at a time. Hoping to get any and all reviews before we decide 100% on a trailer. Thanks!

Wowsa! First trailer and you're going big! Sure looks like you won't need much else! Other than perhaps nerves of steel if this is your first time towing. lol.
