2015 Subaru Manual Transmission

Can I tow a 2015 Subaru Forester with manual transmission 4 wheels down without damaging the car?

Why is it that after people who tow Subarus all the time answer the question, someone who knows nothing about towing Subarus chimes in?

Disclaimer: I've been towing my standard transmission 2010 Subaru since, well, 2010.

To reiterate, manual transmission Subarus can be towed 4 down. Automatic transmission Subarus can NOT be towed 4 down, neither can they be towed on a dolly. Automatic transmission Subarus MUST be towed 4 up on a trailer.
  • Thank you SO MUCH Grumpy374. To me is sure looked ok if we went the the manual transmission. My wife has a Subaru Forester and I think I'll have to pry it our of her hands before I can trade it in on a new one. She LOVES it. Do you know if most Subaru dealers can wire it up for towing or should I have a local guy do it? Thanks again for putting my mind at ease.
  • Yes you can. Almost all Subies WITH A MANUAL TRANNY, can be towed, 4 down, with no restrictions as to speed or milage. We tow a 2013 Subi Crosstrek, no problem at all.
New 2015 edition of MH Towing Guide still lists all Subies with a manual tranny as towable 4 down.
Owners manual states manual tranny can be towed 4 down.
Get one and enjoy. Wife is on her third Subi Outback and I'm on my third Subi, the XV. Super reliable, best all wheel drive in the business, pretty much trouble free.
