2016 3500HD Suburban

This is strictly for the armored-version builders.

The 1 ton chassis can handle the extra thousands of pounds of armoring for secure vehicles.

Without a drivetrain upgrade, it's useless for towing any more than a 1/2 ton would.

This HD Sub only trades towing capability for weight-carrying capacity. This keeps the relatively light-duty drivetrain from breaking.

Unfortunately, no REAL 3/4 ton version for towing anymore.

I'll keep my 2002 K2500 Suburban with 8.1L.

By the price it's pretty obvious they are only marketing/producing them for govt use.
No one else in their right mind would pay that much for a stock, underpowered HD gas SUV!
There is a real market though and idk why one of the big 3 hasn't kicked out a new HD SUV. All the old burbs and excursions are getting used up....

Reading the fine print I see: "Suburban HD is available only to Fleet buyers"

Guess I'll find something else to spend that 80K + on that's been burning a hole in my pocket.

We had a k2500 Burb for 10 years. 3/4 ton, 8.1L 4wd. Towing Capacity 12,000. Loved it. Couldnt find another so we now tow with a 2015 F250 3/4 ton short bed.

The Burb was a beast and there wasnt anything it couldnt do, or tow the TT just about anywhere as well.

If you can find an educated Chevrolet Rep/dealer, a reliable build schedule, an accurate spec sheet, you will be way ahead of the crowd. Some of the standard features in that MSRP are actually added cost options, but it's fleet so the whole buying process is different than your local GM dealer.
I asked a good friend about these in 2015 who handles the fleet sales where I was employed. He was trying to get info for bids...he just laughs everytime we talk and tells me of his countless hours.
Closely compare the features vs. off the lot, loaded Suburbans...vinyl flooring (optional), low HP, repetitive descriptions...very Basic. I think these are produced so some custom shop can adapt them and add another $80K to the price.

Heck I think my bicycle can tow more than 3000 lbs.

4400# payload is nice, but what do they mean 3000# trailering?

Too bad I'd have to sell my trailer, kids, and dog to pay for that thing. And then I would have no more need for it
