2018 2.0L Turbo Terrain

Is the new 2018 GMC Terrain with the 2.0L Turbo 4cyl, 9-speed towable? I tried Remco, but they only go up to 2017 and I tried Motorhome Mag, and just says come back later.

  • You want my opinion? Why not wait until official information is available?
  • According to page 339 of the 2018 GMC Terrain Owners Manual all wheel drive models CANNOT be towed 4 down, they MUST be towed on a trailer. The FWD models may be towed on a dolly.
  • I know there is a person on here who has the 2018 1.5T engine (6 speed) and he tows it four down. Was just wondering if the 2.0 (9 speed) could be also. evidently not.

I don't think that is a 1.5T Terrain, I believe it is a 2018 Equinox which still uses the 6 speed trans on some models. As of 2018 GMC went 9 speed trans on all of it's Terrain models except the 1.6T Diesel which still uses the 6 speed but is not certified for 4 down towing by GMC.
  • I like the 6 on my Tahoe but nine would be fabulous. So much better than the four on the 2001 and 2007 Tahoes.

    1.5 liter FWD
    1.6 liter Diesel FWD
    1.6 liter Diesel AWD
    Can be towed 4 down.

All others need to be towed on a trailer.

I would think the GMC vehicles are the same.

NO THEY ARE NOT THE SAME!!! Starting in 2018 GMC went to the 9 speed automatic on all of it's models except the 1.6T Diesel which still uses the 6 speed automatic. However GMC no longer certifies any of it's Terrain models as towable 4 down as per page 339 of the owners manual. The FWD models are towable only on a dolly.
