I installed a blue ox base plate on the Canyon and a ready brake elite tow bar on our motorhome. Took it for a short test drive yesterday and today my brakes on the Canyon are sticking. Any idea what may have happened?I'm stuck now about 40 miles from home.

Well, used my AAA membership to get towed home. I guess it sat long enough to release the brakes. I was able to get it into the garage. Now I'm trying to figure what could have happened. I suppose it isn't a coincidence that something failed in the brake system a day after towing it for the first time......???Any ideas on what to check?

A little too much tension on the brake cable that is hardly enough to notice but it is just enough to activate the brake lights. On my Focus somehow a piece of the carpet got into the cable sheath and was causing it not to release all the way. Did you install the Ready Stop break-away switch too? It may have pulled just a enough to remove slack between the unit and the pedal also causing the lights to activate.

No, I didn't install the break away yet. The pedal doesn't seem like it is being pulled down at all; the brake lights aren't on but the calipers are squeezing against the rotors slightly. Thanks for the ideas.

Almost sounds like there is a check valve in the system preventing the fluid from returning when the engine isn't running. Maybe part of the ABS :?Dave

I double checked the cable route and it seems fine. The cable is not pulling down on the brakes at all, so that checks out. I'm thinking maybe it somehow got air in the system? During the cable install, I pressed the pedal to the floor in order to mark the spot for drilling the hole through the firewall. I did that and got the hole drilled and then it sat for a week before I finished up routing the cable and getting it the install finished up.I'm just wondering if something got stuck or air somehow worked itself in because of pressing the pedal to the floor with the engine off and letting it sit for a week?
