3500 vs 5200 with 9600 rating will not amount to much for how it drives or the fuel economy.
However I would judge on GVWR 8890 and 7500 in which the 8890 could easily put you over the rating. Anything loaded in the van besides the driver and fuel is deducted from the tow rating.
