3M command hooks

I know that many of us use these in our campers. I just wanted to tell you about an experience I just had with one in the Colby T. I put a large one in the bathroom to hold my Swifter mop. It stayed in place for close to two years. However, I glanced at it the other day while using the toilet and noticed that, although it was well attached to the wall, it had caused the wall covering to pull away from the wall itself. I removed it and now have a blister about the size of a 50 cent piece.

I have not had any issues whatsoever with the other ones I have in the camper. My theory on this one is as follows: As the I towed the trailer from place to place, there was a constant rocking of the mop. I believe that caused the separation.

My suggestion is that we be careful with anything that might move too much while the trailer is moving.

3m Command Hook user here; I can see how that could happen if the underlying adhesion fails.
  • I also used one to hang up my apron. Pulled away from my wallpaper type wall, too! Won't do that again. But the ones in my shower are doing just fine.
  • WE use at least 2 to hang anything...then there is no moving going on.

Pictures of all sizes, other stuff etc. has been hanging on our 5vr walls for 7 yrs. FT traveling.
  • I'm pretty sure the instructions say not to hang them on walls with wall paper. We use a lot of them in MH, but we only put them on wood doors or inside cabinets.

Same thing happened to me when I hung a clock with one. I fixed the blister by heating it up with a hair dryerwhile gently pressing it back down. I learned that froma Newmar factory tech.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try.

  • I had wondered about these super strong adhesives causing a failure of the laminate in an RV. I have had one rip the paper backing off drywall in my house, so no doubt it could damage the wall covering in an rv.

    Thanks for sharing!
