Nearly every Owners Manual I have ever read on a 4X4 or AWD vehicle expressly FORBIDS towing 2 wheels down UNLESS the rear drive shaft is removed.
To clarify, I have owned Dodge and Chevy 4X4 pickups, Jeeps, Jeepsters, Wagoneers, AMC Eagles, and Subarus.
NONE of them allow two down towing; not behind a wrecker, not for recreation, not for anything unless the rear drive shaft is disconnected or removed.
It even applies to the 1/4, 3/4, 5/4, and 2 1/2 ton vehicles I drove in the Army.
So, in my experience, NO, you can't tow a 4WD vehicle on a dolly.
