5th wheels are designed to have around 20% of thier weight on the pin. If you hook up to the back that probably translates to a lifting force of around 2000-2500lbs on the back of the truck. That means very little weight on the rear axle. I could see if you hit a bump, it could lift the rear axle completely off the ground.
