6.7 Diesel Towing MPG

I was just blessed with a 2019 F250 Lariat with the 6.7l diesel. Never owned a diesel before. Planning a summer trip from New Orleans area to Atlanta area. I was curious what kind of gas mileage should I expect towing. I guess I am used to gas engines, where I have to plan my fuel stops carefully with at 35ft trailer.

  • 9-12. Hard to believe you would regularly get more than 12, unless you are going 55 MPH with no wind.

    I averaged 10 MPG running 65-68 MPH over 5,200 miles pulling a 14K high profile 35' 5th wheel
  • 11-12 towing my 32BHDS (36' and about 9000lbs) and 15-16 average not towing.
  • 2012 F350 CC LB FX4 6.7 w/3.55. Between 10 and 11 for most towing of my 35’ high profile 5er over flat to rolling terrain. Less in the mountains or high winds. I do run at the speed limit up to 70 on the highways.

19-20 mph when not towing on the highway at 70-75. 20-21 if I keep it below 70.

    16-17 combined city/hwy.
  • I stand corrected I should have said Fuel economy. My trailer is 7500 GVWR. I was getting 7.5mpg on my 6.2l gas, so anything better than that is great.

Keeping the speed down makes a big difference ! Knock another 5 MPH off of that and I would bet you pick up at least another 1 MPG.

Time to change your vocabulary, you don’t burn gas any more, it is diesel or fuel. Best to work on it early before you fill it with Regular!

    Congratulations on the new TV!
  • Depends on a lot of variables.. terrain, speed, wind, ect...

I tow a fiver that is just under 16k with my “15” 6.7 and 3:55 rear... I average between 9-11 depending on variables.... I did get 12 once,., but everything was optimal, as i usually have a heavier foot...
  • Expect 11 to 13 depending on wind, your speed and driving skills.
