- agesilausExplorer IIIThe 6.7 has been in use since 2011 and has been mostly trouble free. Ford made some improvements in the latest model year boosting the HP and torque a little. There were some problems with the Bosch fuel system from people getting contaminated fuel but I haven't seen any one complaining in quite awhile. GM uses the same Bosch system, I'm not sure about Dodge.
The only problem we have had was a broken air line to the turbo. It was fixed under warranty. - BB_TXNomadNot sure if you would consider it "long term", but I have a 2012 F350 6.7 bought new July 2012. Only have something over 25,000 miles so far. Have towed the 35' 5er over Colorado mountain passes twice the last two years plus several other trips. Never a problem, and it tows the passes great. Love the truck.
- jus2shyExplorerGood motor in general. Biggest issues known are the 2011 run of super duties having issues with the passenger side valve train (some of the motors would drop the valves on the passenger side). Also an on-going issue with radiator quality (similar issues since the 6.4 Diesel motor in the 2008 super duty) where it seems there's an abnormal number of them reporting failure.
Need to make sure you stay on top of fuel filter maintenance (drain periodically, use only filters in spec which I believe is Motorcraft for Ford), as all modern diesels that sport the Bosch CP4 pump are known to be delicate (Other diesels with this fuel pump are the Duramax, all TDI motors from the VW auto group, and Ecodiesel. I am unsure if the Chevy diesels in the Cruze and Colorado use this same pump at this moment). In 2015, there was significant changes made to the CP4.2 pump for the Super Duty, hopefully adding robustness to the fueling system. Some members implied running changes made prior, but I never found documentation on that information. - dbblsExplorerI have over 50,000 trouble free miles. I really love the power this engine has.

X2 what BB_TX said, but I have almost 47,000 miles on mine and the majority are towing. - ricaticExplorerI had one...lot's of power, pulled my fiver fine and was a nice truck for 35000 miles...then the sad truth about Ford and it's diesels raised its ugly head...the truck just stopped one day and would not restart...after 3 failed attempts to fix it,it was determined the HPFP ate itself... the dealer needed an out for all his wasted time so a fabricated "water in fuel" diagnosis fixed that...and me...even after completely refuting the WIF claim at a different dealership, Ford still stuck me with a non-warranty repair that cost over $10,000.00...thus no more Fords for us...and about 175 others that saw my plight and bought something else...Good Job Ford...
Shameful treatment of a lifelong customer to save face for a crooked Ford dealership...the Blue Koolaid Crowd will claim "it's not Ford, it's the crooked dealership"...bull puckey...Ford World HQ called me to personally deny the coverage...
Shame on Ford...
Regards - Cummins12V98Explorer IIII would highly recommend checking out the other two kids on the block as well. They have a much more proven track record.
Look on the Mobile Suites forum, three years ago there was mostly Fords now it's a mix of GM's and RAM's not many new Fords. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

If I were you I would tell your story at every opportunity!
GM and Ford have the same Bosch pump but GM does take care of people under warranty. - NinerBikesExplorer

It's a Bosch problem, all vehicles with a Bosch CP4.1 for an inline 4 or CP4.2 for a V-6 or V-8 engine, VW, Audi, Ford, Chevy, GMC, they all have failed catastrophically, grenading the whole fuel system, and everything that the fuel touches. Bosch failed to do failure analysis on this pump model. Quite convenient how much money they make in parts on a failure, it's obscene. Of course, Ford too, profits on this failed venture, huge mark up on all the fuel injection and fuel system parts ruined. - IdaDExplorer

At 35000 miles I don't understand why it wouldn't be covered by Ford, regardless of whether Bosch was also at fault. This also isn't the first horror story I've heard about Ford warranties recently and it does give me pause.
