6 people killed in Texas campsite attack

LINK

PALESTINE, Texas – Six people, including a family of recent transplants to Texas from Maine, were murdered over the weekend at a rural campsite southeast of Dallas, and authorities said a suspect had been arrested in the case.

William Hudson, 33, is charged with one murder count and was being held Monday on $2.5 million bond. Prosecutors are expected to file additional charges. It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.

I ALWAYS have mine handy because you just never know what can happen!

So is your house burning down. But I bet you have fire insurance, just in case!

Violence against one of us is unlikely. However, it does happen, and the only one who can stop it is YOU! Nobody else will get there soon enough to help. They can catch the perp, but the violence is already done.

Highly unlikely I'll ever need a fire extinguisher or have a CO leak ;)

Thankfully, that's true. But I can't help thinking how vulnerable we are when on a parking lot or by ourselves on private land even though we're locked in that big box. And to think, when I was a kid I thought nothing of throwing a sleeping bag on the ground and sleeping the night away.

My heart goes out to the woman who did survive. She'll have to deal with this the rest of her life.
  • Bet they thought that only happens to other people. Or maybe, they'd been camping for many years and never had it happen before? Sometimes bad things happen to good people. We are all responsible for our own safety, and the safety of those under the mantle of our protection. It should behoove us to act accordingly.
  • If it's true, it's a really weird story. They were camping on their own land---not a state park or private campground or anything. But the suspect, who lived next to them, helped them get a vehicle out of the mud, only to come back 6 hours later to murder them?

Maybe they've got the wrong guy or maybe there's more to the story?
  • We need to stay alert this day and time, anywhere and everywhere we go.
If the authorities knew about him why not do something..
  • I saw that.It didn't appear to occur in a campground. Non the less,we have to be vigilant. The authorities say they knew he was violent but not like this? I guess they were wrong.Just shows it's up to us to protect ourselves.
