OP, Unfortunately I think that you made a mistake in depending upon something that can be critical to ANY delivery system. I understand your frustration but...
DW is a master manipulator and has 6+ months of meds on hand when we leave home. There have been past occasions when with a 2 week period we've ordered ahead of that time frame (ie ordered before we even arrived), but we had a backup plan even then.
It sounds like your trip was a limited event and you have learned some of the lessons we've learned over the years. So learn from the experience and move on.
