- hokeypokeyExplorerBuy shipping boxes "if it fits, it ships" at the Post Office. Address them to where you want it shipped and give them to your mailman. Instruct him to fill the box every week (or every other week-your choice). When you return home, give him a tip. It works.

Have used this a couple of times, works fine. Everything was shipped and as stated there will probably be a delay during the Holidays.
Have tried the UPS service, was ok, but the USPS system was easier since we stay in one place for the winter. If we go on short trips from our rv site the resort holds mail till we get back. - John_JoeyExplorerYes, with no problems other than just one. If the envelope states "do not forward" then you'll have an issue. One winter we took off and DW had a visit to the local clinic prior to leaving. The co-pay bill did not get forward, neither did the followup ones with all the nasty statements. When we got back north you would have thought we were criminal enemy number 1 at that clinic. :S
- Opie431ExplorerWe have ours forwarded to the condo we stay in for the winter. I type a very large print note, covered with plastic into the mailbox where the delivery person has to see it when they open the door that our mail is being forwarded because sometimes a post office has to use subs.
Works well. We have done this for three years now. - tatestExplorer IIMy brother does, brick and mortar snowbirding, on a 3 1/2 month cycle, but has to have someone catch his forwarded mail that needs to go back. Forwarding back doesn't always work, if you can even get the receiving PO to do it.
Might work better if your turnarounds are well defined, and you can do "forward until" without glitches.
There will be a certain amount of probably important mail sent "do not forward" or "address service requested" and the PO is required to honor that. You can loseor delay things or get unwanted change of address that way. - jnharleyExplorerSome RV parks do not accept mail. Typically military campgrounds do not. They would receive packages form FedEx and UPS but not postal mail.
- darsbenExplorer III used the Post office last year to forward my mail. They could not get it right no matter how much I complained. Mail would be delivered to the house on the regular carriers day off . Sometimes mail would be returned to sender.
This year we plan to have the mail delivered to the house while we are away. My stepson will place it in an UPS box. Once every week or so he will call UPS who will pick it up off our front porch and UPS will deliver it to the UPS facility near where we will be. It will be held for us there for 5 days.
DO NOT RELY ON THE POST OFFICE - Clay_LExplorerAs full timers we used and still use a mail forwarding service and almost all of our mail goes there.
Now that we are snow birding we have a PO box in the CO town where we have our summer house.
We will probably change our legal domicile from SD to CO next summer because it looks like we will be spending six months per year there. Health issues are restricting our travel now. We can still make the 750 mile trip to AZ in the winter but it now takes us four days to get there.
When we head south for the winter we have the mail that goes to our PO box forwarded to our forwarding service and they send it to us.
It works okay because we get very little mail at the PO box.
We will probably do it that way until we stop snow birding. - ValkyriebushExplorer III have USPS forward my mail temporarily from my house in Yuma to my Escapees mail service and e-mail Escapees when and where I want it sent. I then stop the USPS forwarding right before I return home for the winter. I do it all online. Works great!
- jrs1871ExplorerWe have used the USPS temporary change of address for when we go south. Since we stay in one place, it kind of works. As some others have noted, if you get mail that says do not forward you will not get it. That can be a real problem for medical info and bills. The other problem is that this does not include any non first class mail. It wasn't a problem before, the post master just put all the non first class mail in a box and we picked it up when we got home. It was mostly bulk mail but does include magazines that we do want to keep. But the USPS now has a policy that they can hold mail no longer than 30 days. So they won't forward it and they can't hold it for the five months we are gone. We are looking at alternatives but so far haven't come up with an answer. We are checking mailing services. The prices for that service vary greatly so not sure what we will do.
