I guess I may as well chime in...
UPS and Fedex deliver to my door. USPS delivers to a box a tenth of a mile away. Occasionally, IF the regular guy is on the route, and there is a package, he will bring it to the door. Substitutes will drop it on the ground under the mailbox.
I have found USPS tracking numbers to be worthless. If you query the number, it will tell you it was shipped, and when it was delivered. Anything between the shipping point and my carrier is in limbo, nobody knows. UPS and Fedex tracking numbers will show exactly where the shipment has been, town to town clear across the country.
10 years after closing on the house, we are still getting mail for the now deceased former owner, and his businesses that have been defunct for at least 12 years. Telling the Post Office about the problem is useless!
I just throw it away.
