A Camp-Away-from-Quartzsite-with-SxS Question

If you travel up to Parker, you can stay at Blue Water Casino for a few days free. (subject to change) Within and behind the mountains to the east of Parker there are more trails and washes than you could traverse by spring. You can go all the way to Lake Havasu City and Hwy 40 or all the way back to the "Q" without seeing a paved road. There are numerous (free 14 day) BLM campgrounds south and north of LHC as well as in Q. See the BLM office in LHC for more info. The LTVA offices in Q also have some local BLM campground info. See google maps for more trail/wash topographical info. You will have a good time if you are into exploring. Since you can get a little remote, it's best to travel in pairs if you can.

Been camping off Plamosa Rd for I don't how many years and there's trails to anywhere you'd want to go. I go over there 4 or 5 times a winter to visit snowbird friend and ride as it's only 3hrs. from home to set up. Also make sure I fill up with diesel while there, about 80 cents cheaper per gallon.

I lived in Quartzsite for 10 year and have traveled on almost every trail. If you camp South of town...someone suggested off Mile Marker 99..you can take the Old Yuma Road into town..it basically dead-ends into the Big Tent RV Show which is in late January . The Old Yuma Road is between Hwy 95 and Tyson Wash. Tyson Wash parallels the Old Yuma Road. Both the Yuma Road and Tyson Wash are ATV Super Highways! The Old Yuma Road was the stagecoach road between Yuma and Prescott and Quartsite was a stage stop. Check out both trails by searching the names Google Earth. Have fun....

We are presently at an RV park which is around 15 miles east of Quartzsite. There are trails from most RV parks that connect to trails that will take you almost anywhere you want to ride. If we want to ride the trails to Q those 15 miles translate into a 45 minute trail ride, cool we think! If you are into boondocking there are great areas on BLM land in all directions. I know that the park we are in is full but I'm sure there are vacancies around. Good luck. dreamer.

We stay 6 miles south of Quartzsite in the BLM RoadRunner free camping area....( off 95 at LaPaz Rd. ....or mile post 99. I have seen quad runners driving to the Quartzsite RV big tent on trails alongside the highway.

We will be returning to the Q in January for the 7th year in a row. We always stay at the Rice Ranch RV Park {just a large gravel lot with full hook ups for about $35 and dry camping for $7 we dry camp}. What RR has going for it is its location at the southeast corner of 95 and Kuehn Rd which puts you a couple of hundred yards from the center of the show and we walk to everything. Be advised... if you are going to ride any paved roads in Quartzsite your buggy needs to be street legal in Arizona and yes, they do enforce it.

We have found that during the big RV Show 2 days and nights at the Q are plenty and this year we have reservations for 4 days/nights {Pre Q} at Arizona Oasis in Ehrenburg 20 miles west of the Q right on the Colorado River before we roll on into Quartzsite on Monday morning.

Arizona Oasis sits just a mile from the Ehrenburg Sand Bowl OHV riding area which is awesome! After doing 4 days of some serious Rzr chasing we will do 2 days at the Q and then head up to Lake Havesu for another 3 or 4 days of fun at a nice RV Park right on the lake {can you say kayaks?} before returning home to Tucson.

My friends from San Diego will be in their 40' Winnebago DP trailering his Rzr 1,000and we in our 24' Class C trailing my 570 Rzr. Ten days of too much fun in 3 great venues with our friends... Doesn't get much better than that.

Several years ago we set up at a wildlife refuge south of town as suggested by a ranger and drove into the chaos in town. Strictly park anywhere and dry camp. OK for a night or 2. Free.

There are a lot of private RV parks in the Quartzite area. 30 miles to the north there are some in the Parker area as well. I think Quartzite has a nice Internet site that will give you a lot of information.
