A new way to get around a campground!

I have been looking for a rideable electric vehicle for a while now and finally found it. Its called an URB-E electric bike.

You can see them at URB-E.com.

They are made in Pasadena,CA. They weigh 35 lbs, go twenty miles on a full charge and have a top speed of 15mph! It takes four hours to charge completely from dead on a standard 120v plug. They have a few models to choose from and many choices of colors and inserts to make it your own.

They are made from aircraft grade aluminum and carbon fiber for long lasting durability.
  • For some reason I cannot attach any pictures, but we have been riding ebikes for over a year now. I take several rides a week of over 25miles on single track mountain trails a fire roads where I climb and descend thousands of feet. Our eMTBs are homemade from components I bought from Luna Cycle and the bikes are fat bikes from Bikes Direct.

Anyone who thinks these are clown bikes for lazy people is welcome to try and keep up on a two hour ride, I'll provide the bike! BTW, they won't move unless you pedal: these are not electric motorcycles although they look like it. They are CA legal Class 1 ebikes. They are light enough to travel inside our fiver and have enough range to pull a trailer full of 95lb dog for dozens of miles on hard sand or on the pavement.

Those Sondors are great for the street, if a bit underpowered, but no hub motor is really suited for off-roading or for extreme hilly riding. For that you need a mid-drive that replaces the crank with an electric motor allowing use of all the rear gears like we have.
Our eMTBs have BBSHD motors with a 52v 20ah battery in one and a pair of 52v packs in the other: one 13.5ah and the other11.5ah. The bikes started out as $399 Gravity Deadeye Monster fattys, but I have since upgraded many parts.
  • Not electric but well under $500 we bought a couple of these. 9 speed, sprung fore & aft, only complaint is the skinny seat which was replaced with a Walmart cheapo. http://downtube.com/bikes/

I think the Segway MiniPro shows a lot of promise and is much less expensive.
I'll promise you that my hospital bill will be higher than the asking price. :B

There is no way this cow poke is trying that out!

We ordered 2 of these Sondors ebikes a few months ago and just got them. They are fun to ride!

For anyone that makes unfounded assumptions - neither of us are obese. DW does have inherited congenital heart failure and this pedal assist ebike will allow her to ride more. And I believe I did mention....They are fun to ride!
I looked at their website and never found anything about a warranty. Do they have one? With the replacement parts prices I saw I sure hope so!
$100 bucks for a tire and $50 for a tube is just a sample of their prices.
  • According to the Sondors Owners Facebook page, there is a 30 day warranty. I don't see many repots of problems, and those that I do see are taken care of, although contacting customer service is only via email and it seems to take a few days to even get a response. Overall, I'm not concerned with warranty on a $500 bike that is only sold in CA.

As Eddie pointed out and I've often noticed with other companies, the parts on Sondors site are expensive. Other than the frame, I've seen all the parts on bike sites for much cheaper. I've seen prices for 4.9" tires\tubes as low $40\$15. I bought the LCD with an upgraded 25A controller for <$100 and Sondors sells them for just under $250.

I thought I saw on their website they were sold world wide.

Ooops, sorry, I worded that poorly. This company is a recent startup and only sells from an office (warehouse?) in CA. They do sell/ship to some other countries
