Some do....some don't.
Cars, RVs, truckers - or all sizes, shapes and configurations.
It is what it is....
and may have nothing to do with being courteous or lacking courtesy.
You will never know unless you were to interview the driver.
Sooo....
Why worry about whether you do or don't receive "acknowledgment"?..:?
