I really DO WISH diesel owners everywhere would get over this obsession they have with idling. Do they not understand they are wasting fuel?
There should be a big sticker on the dash---DO NOT IDLE!
Phooey.. I always idle my diesels, trucks and tractors prior to shutting down for a couple minutes to stabilize the lubricant temperatures in the turbochargers and let the engine thermally 'relax'.
Why no such sticker will ever be on any dash of any diesel.
There's a difference between "idling for a few minutes" and letting the engine run for 30 minutes plus.
I think most folks are fine with 5-10 minutes max to let things warm up or cool down. It's the idling for excessive lengths of time that folks find annoying.
I don't thinks folks would have an issue with your behaviors.
