Oldme brings up some valid points. As one with a severe hearing disability (gunfire will do that), I can only hope that those with perfect hearing will cut us a little slack. I don't mean to be loud but certainly there are times when inadvertently I am.... my bad. The ultimate irony for me is knowing that for years my mother lied to me.... she always told me I would go blind.

My second career was working with Adults with Developmental Disabilities.
I quickly realized that most people can not recognize any disability besides some obvious physical disability. Also most people are very intolerant of anything that is outside of their normal way of life.
Hearing loss is fast becoming one of this country's major disabilities. It also occurring earlier in life than ever before.
Many people do not realize their own loss of hearing and in many cases refuse to admit it, for various reasons.
As was posted earlier, we all need to be a little more tolerant of others. It is not always about us and I will add that none of us are perfect.
