There are probably devices out there made for law enforcement, but what happens if your vehicle for some reason stops running while you are away? The other side of the coin is, most folks, engine running or not, will call and ask for someone to respond to remove the unattended animals. There are also places that have laws allowing folks to break a window if they see a pet inside a locked vehicle on a hot day.
If we need to leave the dogs unattended on hot days, we find a kennel or a babysitter. Friends of our lost their Scottish Terriers 2 summers ago in the heat. They went off sight seeing, left them in the motorhome with the A/C running, thinking they would be ok. They returned after their outing and found them passed away from the heat. There was a power outage, and when it came back on tripped the breaker on the pedestal.
We have the auto start function on the gen set, but why chance it?
