While travelling, I have no idea why anyone would want to put their animals in the toad instead of the motorhome. That just seems like a bad idea all around.
While parked, I think you'd be better off with open windows/doors and battery powered fans. My mom and sister are heavy into dog obedience/agility/tracking, and at every one of those events half the parking lot is full of vans and SUVs with the rear doors open and the dogs in a crate/cage. With battery powered fans on hot days. And water of course.
These people are extremely serious about their dogs, some of which are quite valuable, so I would assume they know what they are doing.
