We have no tickets no accidents. Hartford's new offer is twice what it was last year.I called, I spoke to their rep, he just says and does, what he is told, I get that. He blamed it on the wild fires in WA, 2 years ago.Just very disappointed with Hartford.

We had Geico but changed to CW (National General Ins. ) Which had better coverage for less money..I would shop around if I were you.

We also had our home owners insurance premium doubled by Farmers Insurance Group after having our home and every thing else insured with them for 47 years. We had no late payments. Their reason was I maxed out a Yard Card when I bought a new zero turn mower. The card was paid off in 120 days....and my credit rating 800 +. Every thing else we own is paid for. Like you say its another gimmick the industry has came up with to stick it to their customers. My agent went to bat for me but had no luck. Maybe one day we will have some elected politicians at the state and fed level that will help the average Joe instead of a industry. Oh yeah... we found different insurance company for the house and cars/trucks/tractor/equipment/boat for half the cost and a much better policy. It pays to check around.

They most likely had to pay significant claims either for burned autos or there's a property casualty division and they are trying to recoup losses. Not long after Hurricane Katrina FEMA reclassified many properties as "flood prone" and required that the owners purchase flood insurance. My house fell into that category. They included houses that were within the 500 year flood plain. This was done to recoup the losses in New Orleans and the surrounding area, one of the down-sides to using a nationwide company for insurance coverage.

Wow, I just switched to AARP from Progressive. Progressive went up every year and AARP gave me a great rate. I wonder what it will be next year.Dave

YEP.........They ALL do it.Low introductory rates then renewal time rates go up....some creep slowly up, some are more aggressive with rate increasesBUT they all do itI go with a Ins. company (introductory rates) and then when they are more then I feel is fair (benefit/cost) I go else where.I used to question their actions, inquire WHY, show me the reasoning.......Not any more.Companies do NOT have loyalty so neither do IIt is all about the money......for them and for MEI used to be with Allstate, then National Interstate, then Farmers and now AARP/HartfordNext year ????My mama told me, "You better shop around, (shop, shop)Oh yeah, you better shop around."
