- Homer1ExplorerDon't stay with any insurance company more than a couple of years. You can do better by shopping around.

I cancelled all my Hartford policies. It would take time for me to offer you my story, and I don't want to give them more of my time. Besides, I'm sure I would sound like a big whiner.
You're not a whiner to me. Had the same experience with Hartford and AARP/Hartford was worse(and higher). Now I use an independent agent and let them do the shopping and if I don't like the quote I tell them to look further. Never had a problem doing this or filing a claim. - ArcamperExplorerState Farm tacked $400 to my homeowners because we did not have any fire hydrants on our road. Fast forward 5 years when the county put in a new water line I went to them and got them to issue a variance to put a hydrant in my yard. Went back to State Farm ready for a discount and was told "We use a different fire rating system now so that does not matter" What a bunch of you know what.
- B_O__PlentyExplorer IISwitched to Hartford a few years ago. My rates have been going up every year. Now I just had my first claim with them. Took them 7 days to approve a small Comprehensive claim resulting from a deer hit. Kept getting one excuse after another as to why it wasn't approved. My last call I said the next call would be from a lawyer, doubt that it mattered but it suddenly got approved. Worst service I ever had anywhere. I'm done with that crappy outfit....

Question......anyone know of any retired insurance agents? No? .
my original local agent retired and I inherited his replacement.
bumpy - lanerdExplorer III only stay with the company I currently have if, and only if, they do not raise my premium. If it goes up, I shop for a new company. Simple.

Have had Hartford for about 13 years, and up until yesterday would have said the same thing about them. Who knows? - henkelphotoExplorerI have State Farm for home, auto and camper. They have not raised our rates appreciably over the last 10 years.
- Finally_TimeExplorerA second vote for Mutual Of Enumclaw. I have home, motorhome, car insurances and an umbrella liability policy with them. Rates were 20% less than my former insurance with Allied. I have only had one claim, rock hit cracked my motorhome windshield. The claim was handled promptly.
- ken56ExplorerQuestion......anyone know of any retired insurance agents? No? There is a reason for that.....commissions pay too well and its not strenuous work. They are not "your" agent anyway, they work for their own pocket and that means getting you to buy as much as they can get you to. He is a salesman, just like the guy in the used car lot. Insurance companies are not our friend. No such thing as loyalty. Best advice I ever heard about insurance is to change companies every 2 yrs. I am over due so I will be changing this coming renewal.
