I know a person who goes ballistic when someone uses ANY abbreviation. Like if you typed " I was camped out on BLM land the other day", she'd pull this idiotic routine making up all kinds of ridiculous phrases like "Benevolent Land Merchant?" attempting to chastise you for not spelling it out. And she will never allow herself to remember them once it's politely explained to her what it means. So, it may happen again in just the same fashion.
I once asked her about stuff like IRS. Is someone expected to write out Internal Revenue Service for you? Her answer, "No, that's an entity unto itself." Oh, I see.
You mean it really doesn't stand for Benevolent Land Merchant ?? :? :p
In Minnesota BLM means Boundarywaters Land Management
