About Solar

Im new to solar in the RV and noticed that it's 0 ampere, while the battery is fully charged 100 percent and the volts is 13.6.

Sorry im not good with elxtricity nor solar but What's with the 0 amp?

  • For an accurate assessment of your operating solar system, please, share what you have. I don't know if you have a 40W panel, 8 batteries, or if you're parked in a blizzard.
  • The amps you see is the load of what is currently running. One of my LED lights is under .1, the non LED lights in my old trailer were more like 1 amp per light, the radio doesn't use much either. Try something like the fan, water pump, or furnace, those are all around 3Ah in my unit. If I switch the fridge to battery it's up around 12Ah.

If I turn everything off there is still a slight A reading, the propane detector, radio, little led lights here and there, still use a bit.

The GoPower uses the voltage level to figure the % state of charge. The 85% means the voltage dropped a bit. Voltage level drops when you turn stuff on, usually temporarily. Turn everything off and see if the voltage and % bounce back up. This static state is closer to the real state of the batteries.

It's easier to see what's going on at night when the solar is not producing a charging voltage, ie the 13.6V. The actual battery level should be closer to 12.8v.
  • Not sure where 85% comes from but if you are still charging then the voltage is too low. Need 14.4 to 14.8 volts. 13.6 is a float charge.

I used some appliance like the radio and turned on all the lights. The battery is about 85% charged and the amp is 0.3. Is the amp too small?

Amperage is the amount of electrical flow. If the battery is charged and not being used, there will no flow of electrical power. That is normal.

If the solar is producing and the battery is being used and/or discharged, the amperage will be higher than 0. Depends on your system and the drain as to how high the amperage will be.

Sounds like your system is fine. I home this helps.
    Thanks.
