We camped for a week each year in the street in front of my bro-in-law's house, (yeah - lots of jokes about "Cousin Eddie") and ran our A/C and fridge off a 15 amp plug. As others have said - the key is to have as few other things running off that circuit as possible. In the morning, I'd shut the A/C off so I could make coffee or dry my hair, for example.
As an aside, we'd use white duct tape over the power cord where it crossed a sidewalk, to hold it down and make it more visible.
