So tomorrow we are going to pay/sign for our first TT (30' KZ Connect) ...
I received an email stating that if we wished to purchase a WD hitch it would be $575 installed.
The manufacturer's paperwork states the dry hitch weight is 690 lbs.
The UVW is 5880 and GVWR is 6800.
How close are the TW specs usually to real world loaded weight?
Is that something I should be looking for?
Unfortunately you haven't provided a link to the particular model you're purchasing nor even told us which model it is but assuming your stated numbers are correct there's no way I'd buy any trailer with so little CCC. Even my little 19' Coachmen has well over 2000 lbs of cargo carrying capacity, in your case I don't see how that trailer's GVW loaded & ready to camp wouldn't equal it's GVWR - in fact, you may well struggle to not exceed that number. :E Given that GVW is likely to equal GVWR, even at 13% gross tongue weight to gross weight you'd be running ~ 884 lbs of gross tongue weight. This isn't something you should be addressing now but rather before you even decided to buy this particular model. Good luck with it. :)
