Hi,
If this the camper you ordered? Maybe with some added options. https://www.kz-rv.com/products/connect-travel-trailers/C241BHK.html
You asked about 1,200# WD bars. If you're TW ended up at 1,000# and it's not hard to get there, they would be a good choice.
If the dealer comes out with a 800# WD bar hitch, you have a problem from the get go. It is not going to work. A 1,000# WD hitch fits to 15% of the 6800 GVWR and is better choice.
That and confirm ideally from the factory, not the dealer, the A frame handle a 1,200# WD bar.
Yes thats the model. 5880 was wrong typo. 5120 UVW correct.
Dealer recommended 1000lb bars. Will check with KZ.
Can anyone tell me if a WDH with a load range (700-1200) is ADJUSTABLE?
I'm glad you had a typo..... That helps
To your question in red, the 700-1200# WD bar range means those WD bars will work with a loaded TW from 700-1200# and within the warranty from the manufacture. You can adjust the amount of WD that is applied on the truck, yes that part is adjustable. Meaning if you have 1,000# of TW, you adjust the hitch to apply enough WD on the truck to return the truck front axle to the correct place. This is all good on level ground.
Why I started to get it confirmed from KZ is, when you go over humps and bumps, the WD hitch takes a backflex. Like when coming up off of a high up RR crossing or out of a gas station where the road is lower than the station pavement. That backflex created a heavy load into the WD hitch. Since the WD bars are 1,200# rated they have the ability to exert a load into the truck receiver and the camper A frame just as it you were having a 1,200# loaded TW.
Some of these new lite weight campers have limits on the A frame that they can get bent from using too strong a WD bar. The truck receiver is also then over rating too. The trailer can be very unforgiving if you bend the A frame.
Hope this helps
