Adco cover

We bought the best Adco cover for our fifth wheel. Only used it in off season.
Padded the corners, on top.
Strapped it up snug but every time it got a little warm it stretched and had to snug again and again. We're talking winter and early spring.
We developed green stuff on the corners.
The winds would make it billow out and stretch again. Finally it tore during second season.
Neighbors bought one more recently. The heat build up caused problems with sagging plastics and wall covering in their fifth wheel. They kept it on when not using all the year.
The material needs to be more uv resistant and the seams stronger. A definate need for some provision of ar movement under the cover up onto the rv and perhaps two parts with a zipper or something instead of one piece and the door opening. That would mean more costs. It is really not as suitable for what most RVers need as would be a permanent shed.

Like most men, I would rather have something overbuilt then under. Only god knows why we choose to buy from china....but

I work in Middle East a lot. They have these carports at work that are flexible material pulled over a frame. Looks and feels like a nylon or something like it. Its got heavy weave. Seem to last a life time. I am not 100% sure. But I know they don't replace them every 2.5 years.
Yea I know it would wear a hole into the cheap aske siding on the Passport TT, but......

I guess I will have to pull the old tarp on the deteriorated sides.

Kind of funny even then Adco patch was so deteriorated that I couldn't get the number off of it.

If you've got the Addco Tyvek cover, they last 2-3 years in the hot sun, max. I've had two of them. Your 3 year warranty will allow you ONE free replacement and you can deal direct with Addco on this, as we did. All you have to do is cut out the printed section on the front with the information and send it in to them. They sent us a new cover shortly thereafter. The new one lasted a little over 2 years in the hot So Cal sun. No more Tyvek for me. I think I will try a Goldline polyester cover the next time around. Costs more, but comes with a full 5 year warranty and is not Tyvek junk.

Having said all that, I kind of have a Love-Hate relationship with RV covers. They keep the rig nice and clean but can be a real PITA to put on and take off.

Did I mention Tyvek is JUNK?

Mr Mitch yea my camper is sitting 100yards from the nearest structure 1000 yards from nearest tree.

JRS&B, that is what I am thinking. The sun is a tuff cookie on anything.

Mr Eric1514 what model do you have that holds up to sun? Az sun at that?

I guess by top of the line Adco, I meant the top of the line Adco cover. The one on the top that says for all climates. Not the ones that say short term, or moderate...The top one....

The ADCO I bought was the Designer series (Dupont TYVEK). Light brown with darker brown sides, zippers for access ways, white roof.

It was pretty, it was soft, but it don't last. I called and they said they would offer another one for half price, but I am not interested in******that will not last, this is not defect, its just not capable of full sun exposure in Kentucky. Maybe I need to park it under trees.

Its about 2.5 years old. This damage didn't just happen, and its been 1 year since I been out to check on it.

Its not rips or tears from handling or sharp edges, that would be my fault and it does have them, another PITA. Need to build a full protective cap to but on before this cover, then maybe I need another cover to put on to protect from the sun. don't know......

Seems that ADCO covers either last for a decade or more or don't last thru the warranty period...

I've got the same cover in the shed now, and will probably use it for one more winter and go from there...

It ain't pretty, but it keeps the trailer clean, and that's what matters to me..

I know you are in full sun with yours, and that's not the same as my deal, so I wish you luck in finding a solution that works for you..
