The secret for searching this Forum is to keep it simple. For example, search for `water heater' and there are more than 6000 posts. Then search the results for `drain plug' and the total is down to about 100; much easier to review. Even if you search for `water heater drain plug' there are 11 posts but usually there will be no results for a lengthy search phrase.
In that list is probably my reply to a similar post to wit: when draining the Water Heater it is a good idea to use something like a Tank Saver Wand (CW sells them) that attaches to a hose and is inserted thru the drain hole to flush out the sediments that invariably collect over time. To do that one must remove the `plug' or `valve' so there is little improvement for adding a valve over the plug.
