Wild Duck in Maine is no kids. It's near Old Orchard Beach.
X2 - We enjoyed Wild Duck in summer 2012 - it's right on the Scarborough Marsh, largest marsh in the state of Maine. Also close to Portland with its wonderful lighthouses, lobster, museums, waterfront shops.
Here's the downside. We have stayed there many times. Won't do it again. They have a camppground monitor that is a real nazi. On several stays we had friends over. After dinner we sat around the fireplace talking. Not really loudly. All the while, the "monitor" watched us. Standing in the road...just watching. At 10PM we called it quits and our visitors left. Another stay, we did the same thing with other guests at the park. Same monitor...watching us the whole time.
The final straw was our last stay. We had a visitor from outside the park. We registered the visitor at the office as required. During dinner, the monitor knocked on our door, and (rather gruffly) announced that we had an unregistered car on our site. We informed him it was our guest. And he announced that our guest was not registered. We disagreed. And he said she did not have the mirror tag. We told him we were not given a mirror tag for her when we registered her. He informed us she will need to leave. I not so politely, "uninvited" him from our site. I tried to call the office to discuss. They were closed. We left the next day. Won't be back anytime soon.
I'll take kids over adults any day.
We have found that "over 55" parks, really means over 75. I prefer not having everyone over a certain age.
