Aftermarket Exhaust Benefits

I'd not bother. 10-15 years ago when trucks had breathing problems, opening the passages did matter. These days with computer controlled EFI, you are at the point where the engine will perform as good as it gets for the most part.

Sorry for the late reply. This would be going into a diesel pickup, and I figured that the intake and computer would be upgraded as well. Thanks for the responses so far, I appreciate them. Kinda amazed to hear that the noise and expense don't seem to justify the gain in horsepower and torque, and possibly fuel mileage. Thanks again for the responses, I look forward to more.

Exhaust will be better only with an upgrade to the intake and other related systems.

As an ect ... I installed a Banks Monster exchaust on a 1999 7.3... wow what a difference...
313,000 miles later... best money I ever spent on this truck...
