I've had my set since 1989 and rarely broken a piece. When I have, it wasn't bad picking up the shards with a damp paper towel. One neat thing I learned, if you need to replace a piece of your set, or just want extra cups, bowls, whatever, eBay probably has them. It is so great to have extra cereal bowls, etc.
