Looking for a air compressor that i can inflate my trailer tires and truck tires while gone camping. one that i will not have to let recycle a few times before i can get 80 psi in my tires.
I bought a used Viair 300P and modified it - I seem to do stuff like this just for the fun of it... It's a 300P that does 2.30 cfm @ 150 psi (33% duty cycle) which is as good as their best performing one, a 400P-RV. I installed a Viair pressure switch inside the end cover that is on 90 psi and off 120 psi. I installed a standard female quick connect fitting instead of the male fitting that Viair uses and added a pressure gauge. I bought a 25' length of super-flexible poly air hose and added a pressure relief valve so the compressor doesn't remain charged after use. When I was redoing the wiring in the A-frame and moving it all into a water-tite box, I mounted a marine trolling receptacle on it. The compressor has a matching plug instead of alligator clips. This works like a charm. It's very small and is stored under the bed along with the hose. It's way quieter than my pancake compressor. Doesn't have the 100% duty cycle like the 400P-RV but is plenty fast enough for what we need. Interestingly, Viair makes excellent compressors but their tire inflator gauge is cheap junk. I returned the one I bought.
