I bought one during an online black friday sale for the sticks and bricks house, and find myself using it all the time now, so I am strongly considering getting another better one and relegating the current one to the RV. The biggest problem with the mid priced one I bought is limited portion size, generally big enough portions for 1 or 2 people, but that is it, as things don't come out well if it is overloaded.
Having said that my reasoning may not hold true for everyone else, I had extensive abdominal surgery which included gallbladder and bile duct removal in 2011, and have not been able to tolerate much fried food since. For the first couple of years after the surgery I was at about a 3 french fry limit before gastric issues would occur, now I am somewhat better, but not much.
Now with the air fryer I can again eat a normal size portion of french fries, that actually taste close to regular fried french fries thanks to a very light spray of olive oil, not like dry oven bake "fries", the same holds true to chicken strips, onion rings, and lots of other types of food I had almost decided I would never eat again. So perhaps not the healthiest cooking appliance I have ever bought....
