- Sillybugs2ExplorerWe had reservations last month and got going late due to some truck issues. I called the campground on the way down saying we'd be in around 2am or the next morning. She left our site info on the board and we arrived late. Parked quickly as possible and went to bed at 3. Reworked trailer position all in the morning to disturb our neighbors less.
- dave17352ExplorerI think most have late registration but I agree its a pain pulling into a rv park in the dark when you are not familiar with it. Not so bad at a uncrowded state park. We have also done the walmart thing on several late night occasions.
- mgirardoExplorerI'm with Ductape. If we stay at a campground for a one night stay, we like to get our money's worth. After 10pm, it's just not worth paying for the day. We'll be at a Wal-Mart for short overnight stays.
-Michael - DuctapeExplorerThat late we are sleeping in wally world or a truck stop etc. CG we aim to arrive before dark. Too many variables to plan on late CG arrival unless you are familiar with the site already.
We don't want to be the ones pulling in late and creating an annoyance for people wanting to sleep.
And I don't want to run over obstacles maneuvering in the dark - K_CharlesExplorerNo, some have a gate to keep people out after hours. We usually plan ahead and aren't still looking at that hour.
- SDcampowneroperExplorerNot all camps have a late arrival procedure. Some discourage it for the peace and quiet for those who arrive earlier, some will leave a map and registration out on a booth for late reserved site arrivals, some say pick any open site then return to fill out registration.
There is no simple answer to your question; as each park, public or private, deals with occupancy and site availibility.
A phone call ahead during business hours is a wise move.
