Leveled off an area beside my house and built a shelter for the pup and canoe. Doesn't look the best but for 120.00 it works and is cheaper than one year of storage. Just need to tarp the sides onc...

Personally, I'd attach a 2x4 horizontally across the side of the house for extra roof support. I think I would also add a few sheets of lattice panels to the exterior uprights for additional protection of popup and tarp.
Suggestions come easily when one is not doing the work.
