Alternative to the Grapevine LA to Central Valley

We're pretty new to the RV life and planning to go full time next year so we're taking a lot of weekend trips. We're meeting friends in Sonora this weekend and don't want to go the Grapevine. Just cur...

No. SR 41 between Atascadero and SR 46 is extremely winding and narrow. Go on north to Paso Robles and then go east. Another alternative would be to continue to just north of Salinas and then go east.
