also have Cymbalta in a 20 mg dose to help with neuropathy as well as Lyrica.
The Cymbalta an hour or so before taking Ambien really helps to sleep but half the next day is a gonner, for me. the Lyrica really helps the neuropathy but it does the same. The pain medication works with the Ambien to keep me awake all night. So most nights I may be here or on one of the other forums.

I don't remember Woodstock either and they didn't have Ambien back then. :)

Something to do with diabetes or the injury from Nam, I don't know.
About nine or ten years ago, I found it getting impossible to shut down and go to sleep. VA Dr said they didn't have anything. Went to an outside Dr and he prescribed Ambien CR. Works well but lingers much of the next day. VA gave me a smaller dose of cheap no CR Ambien that works somewhat. I don't sleep well but feel like I need to all the next day sometimes. Of course the other medicines complicate things.
It is partially responsible for weight gain. Don't thin I've sleep walked though.

I treat my insomnia with my kindle, I turn on a talk show and just listen to it and eventually fall asleep. It has a turn off sleep function. I found that if I have something else to listen to I can turn off the inside noise. LOL. Public Stations like NPR work better than political talk shows because I get mad at what I hear on them. If I have to take anything, I take 2 aspirin and warm milk. It sounds crazy but it really works.
Better than taking medications that may in a few years produce side effects.

Ambien can have VERY adverse effects in elderly people-- like 80s and above age. They get frightened and can hallucinate.

My elderly Mother took Ambien one night. I heard a noise and found her clinging to the bathroom door frame with no idea how she got there or how to get back to bed.

Her incident led to her moving to the nursing home. Knowing more about Ambien, I've always wondered if she would have been judged "safe" in her own home without the ambien use? There are OTHER DRUGS that can be used.

I was prescribed ambien about 10 years ago, I would take it about a hour before bed. Only thing was the next day people would say they talked to me the night before about stuff that I had no memory of. I quit taking it due to this side effect. I am sure it is helpful for some people but it was not for me.

No adult beverages, I know how deadly that can be if combined with Ambien. I have taken Ambien for a year or so, not every night but regularly. This is the first time, that I know of, I have done anything I don't remember.

I keep hoping, but so far, nothing.
