This is the OP.
To Hershey - Did I miss something in my post that made him an "outcast"? You (as in I) sometimes wonder where people made their money, or where mine went. Now you know where your money spent on Harbor Freight tools went.
To Path1 - No, that was the extent of the info, just a short paragraph on each person.
To BB TX - No real meaning to the post other than just info. I too applaud someone who made it. At least he got a good portion of the money rather than some nameless corporation.
To Fj12ryder - I'm like you, most of my tool chests are full of Craftsman tools. Some of them were my Dad's and they're well over 60 years old. And I agree on Snap-On wrenches being so slim that they hurt the hands (maybe that's to keep you from applying too much pressure to them?) and being slick. It's like a PR / designer person designed them to look good instead of someone who really uses a wrench.
And yes, I own a few HF tools. When I'm in Vancouver, WA, my brother and I always make a trip to see what we can't live without. I mostly like to buy consumables like wire brushes, brass punches, brass hammers, etc. I did buy a clamp on voltage meter last trip, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. The best cheap tool I ever bought was a 3/4" drive set from a tool seller that comes to Anchorage every year. I paid $75 for that 3/4" drive set 12 - 15 years ago and I haven't managed to break anything yet even though I use a 3/4" impact wrench and cheater bars on it all the time. I even used either a 3:1 or 5:1 Snap-on or Proto multiplier on it one time without doing any damage.
