- BigdogExplorerI like knowing that it was clean before I left home and it doesn't matter what it looks like when I get there. If it's real bad,I'll wash it as soon as I get home and if it's not, I'll clean the bugs off the front. It'll get washed before I head out again. In the winter, that's a different story, especially this winter. Even though the weather was pretty good this fall here in the beautiful PNW, for some reason the cedar and fir tree I'm parked under have shed a lot and when the rain hits,it causes major black streaks and moss when it runs off the roof. I've taken it out for a freeway run several times to blow the stuff off the roof as it really got thick. I have a PVC roof that has never had black streaks till this year.
I'm heading to the RV shop this week to get my icemaker rehooked after they replaced the cooling unit last week and I'll hose off the roof and wash the green stuff off the outside. Then next week I'm heading for Portland and Astoria and I'll check it before I go and it'll be washed when I come back. - DE88ROXExplorer

Is it just me, or is anybody else so anal they wash the trailer before leaving?
I wash the trailer and awning as well as my truck before every trip.
Wax in the spring and fall.
No sense washing it when im done, just to have it sit outside in storage and get dirty.
Gotta have a clean rig going down the road!! - ApprovedAnonymous

If you live where bugs are common, your wash job will last about 30 minutes down the road...so there's at least some doubt if you have accomplished anything but wasting water, soap and time.
Never a waste IMO as leaving the bugs on for long just makes a bigger mess and can stain/damage the finish. - lfcjaspExplorerWell my guy did clean off some black streaks before we took our MH out last weekend. This is a second home! We take better care of it than we do our brick rancher!

- johnnyrvExplorerWash only when dirty, usually every three trips. But remove spot stains immediately.
- down_homeExplorer III didn't mind washing so much, when I could do it easily. The reward, of standing back and seeing it as it should be, right after washing, was good. Then light the grill and set the chairs out and get ready for a full day or week the next day. A clean MH, a steak and some company and some cards and ready, for the rest, of stay.
- VeebyesExplorer IIWashed ours on Monday before putting indoors for 7 months of storage. Will wash & wax before hitting the road next year.
Once on the road, well, it depends. Will never miss a chance to wash if allowed in a CG. We actually make an effort to visit such CGs if they are along our route. If there is a good chance of getting dirty right away then, why bother? Alaska is such a place. You are going to look like you have been mudding. Opportunities for a wash are rare.
It is nice to be clean but it is not worth being anal over. - LantleyNomad

If you have a RO water system you can fill a garden sprayer for final rinse with the RO water and it will not leave spots. Saves a lot of drying.
With just the water softener mine leaves water spots.
A man after my own heart! I'm very thorough as well, I find it relaxing and enjoyable cleaning my rig, the highlight of ownership.
Using my RV is relaxing and enjoyable. Washing is simply a necessary evil and a chore.
While I do wash my rig, there are about 1000 other things I enjoy more than washing it. - cyntdon2010Explorer(O) What!
