Here we are, in a shutdown. With a virus going around that makes one person in a few hundred ill enough to need hospitalization. And with media scaring most people into having a mental image that if we get the virus, we'll probably die... but it isn't so. Best current estimate: 60,000 dead in the US. 60,000 is about the same number as in a bad flu season. We did our thing for the hospitals and flattened the curve so they could catch up. Time to move on.
I'm getting paid by the government to sit on my butt, so I'm ok. But I'm worried about all the people who will be hard hit by the shutdown. The sooner we can get folks back to work (paying withholding) and people resume normal shopping habits (paying sales taxes), the better off we'll be.
Look at it this way. One bunch (I won't name names) really wants people to be working again for the sake of the economy, the businesses, and the workers. The other bunch (not naming names!) really wants to increase tax revenue and get everyone to pay their fair share. Ending the shutdown is a win for both parties! :D
