Yep, same engine, one Explorer 2K rating, other 5K rating, due to towing package. OP needs to upgrade to be similar to tow package. Likely gearing, cooling, and maybe hitch.

Yep, the "tow package" consists of bolt-on parts. Install the necessary parts, and the tow rating increases. The parts needed MAY include a larger radiator, auxiliary transmission cooler, and a lower (numerically higher) differential ratio (such as changing from 3.5 to 3.73 or even 4.1). The hitch and the rear springs may also be different.
The "tow rating" is not chiseled in stone. It CAN be changed by installing the right parts, which are readily available from the vehicle manufacturer or from aftermarket sources.
All it takes is money...
