You seem to be a fairly savvy person; why is it that you continue to ignore the fact that an action taken in State court will NOT rely on "the body of case law" in any other state.
Therefore there ARE 50 different sets of case law that might apply depending on what state you are in. And what parts of that body of case law are applicable depends on the specific circumstances.
While your assumptions might be true in a lot of cases, they still are assumptions.
