Well here I am two months on the job as Director of Operations at an RV park in Pismo Beach and I got called out at 1:00 this morning for a fire in one of our residents 5er.Thank goodness the owner was staying with friends after her surgery.No one hurt but this poor woman's trailer is a total loss. Very obvious the fire started at the refrigerator and a service guy was just out a few days ago to look at the non-working fridge. So badly damaged that I couldn't make out the brand.I spoke to the woman and she said she never received a recall notice. It is a 2006 model year.Keeps the new job interesting.

norcold has a recall out there about refrigs.

I didn't know that later years had an issue. I have a 2000 yr Dometic that has had the recall done. Do any of you use frigs that have had the recall?

Well if it happened shortly after a serviceman looked at a non-working fridge, I'd know who'd I'd be talking to posthaste. Be hard to blame it strictly on the fridge.

Yeah, on my previous rv's I had fridge recalls; one was a Dometic the other was a Norcold. I continued to use them without any issues after I had the recalls done.

A friends TT was worked on and the service tech removed the water heater while she was away. No note was left indicating the status of the work. She went outside to turn on the propane so she could cook dinner. When she went to light the stove there was an explosion. The service tech had left the water heater gas line un capped. She had burns to the front of her body. Luckily she recovered without any long lasting effects.

I had the recall done on my Born Free and it was just placing shielding mostly. If it starts a fire and the temps get up and there is no insulation it will be an issue. It is why I replaced the fridge in my Foretravel with electric and wish I could do the same in the born free.

I have a friend that lost his 2006 Safari to a Nocold refer fire. He had had the recall done but it went up anyway

Wow....is this something I need to check out? I have a new 2014 Arctic Fox with a Norcold Refrigerator?

A diligent insurance company would inform a purchaser of a recall problem by placing an exclusion on the fridge. Should they not do this good chance it's the insurance company's problem to work out and ultimately pay.
