Another laminate floor question

I ran a crossed a few posts about delamination of the foam sandwich floors. That is what we have in our Wildcat although it does have aluminum frame being within it. I do weigh 220 pounds and the floor does feel really solid, like no flex anywhere, in fact it feels the most solid of any units we've ever owned.

Anyway, as I have a tendency to overthink issues, I was thinking about putting down laminate flooring ( assuming I can make it work with the two slides I have in that area) to basically thicken the floor and to spread out the weight before things would have a chance to get soft. I realize laminate flooring is not meant to be structural and to fix soft spots but I'm talking about doing it before It devolopes soft spots.

I would rather be proactive to help eliminate potential problem versus waited to see if it happens. Anybody else ever do this ?

  • I have laminae flooring. With the installed layer of cork rubber and the attached rubber backing, it has a nice feel to it. It does nothing to the integrity of the subfloor.

If you want to increase the rigidity of the floor, you could install another layer of sheeting on top of what you have. That additional sheet would need to be installed with adhesive since most of the sandwich type floors have an aluminum frame.
  • I dont think you really need to do this. I'm not 220 but at 170 and 13 years of use, our WC's floor has no issues what so ever.
